Godox Introduces New Flagship AD600Pro II All-In-One Strobe

Godox, the extremely popular camera lighting and accessory brand recently announced the release of its AD600Pro II flagship outdoor strobe.

This is the second generation in the series and offers an all-in-one photographic and video lighting solution with serious lighting power packed into it.

With the Godox AD600Pro II, photographers working in the field or in a studio setting can enjoy 600 watts of power output and major improvements in flash duration, output range and the strobe’s control functions.

This new edition of the AD600 Pro now includes One-Tap Sync thanks to Godox’s new X3 Trigger design and also features a color-optimized screen. Other new features include a 40W bi-color modeling light and a more accurate group identification indicator.

With its release, the Godox AD600Pro II is the brand’s most powerful outdoor strobe and has the specs necessary to make it a large improvement over its predecessor.

These new specs and features include speed and runtime improvements, recycle times of as little as 0.01 seconds and flash duration that can be as short as just 1/11,760s while using the strobe’s regular mode.

The AD600Pro II also supports a High-Speed Sync at a speed of up to 1/8,000s and a Freeze Mode with an even shorter flash duration of just 1/20,040s.

Users can fine-tune output in the AD600Pro II to as many as ten steps ranging from 1/1 to 1/512. This means a precise level of control that lets a photographer tailor their exact output needs as delivered by the AD600Pro II strobe.

A person operates a wireless Godox flash unit in a blue environment, possibly a studio or court, holding a small device displaying a "Connecting" message.

With this level of fine-tuning, anything from subtle highlights to full-power illumination effects is possible according to Godox.

The AD600Pro II also comes with an upgrade that gives it a total of 16 groups of 16 colors. These are displayed on both its flash unit and its X3 trigger.

With this design, Godox states that the AD600Pro II lets photographers easily identify and manage each group of lights during multi-light setups and long-distance shooting scenarios.

The TFT color screen for the Godox AD600Pro II also boasts enhancements for brightness and contrast. It’s been designed to ensure superior visibility even in difficult lighting conditions.

To complement this, the control panel for the new strobe has also been streamlined. For example, it now features an on/off button that’s right on the panel and a modeling light button that can be turned off with a quick 1-second push.

The 40W Bi-Color continuous LED Modeling Light in the AD600Pro II is another major update for this new strobe.

It serves as both a high-performance flash and a robust LED light for video recording scenarios, and can also be used as a supplemental light source for filling shadows or adding warm additional lighting to a scene.

Another extremely photographer-friendly feature of the Godox AD600Pro II is its new One-Tap Sync function that we mentioned above.

This lets a photographer instantly synchronize the AD600Pro II with its X3 Flash Trigger without worrying about things like Channels or ID switching.

A woman poses on a rocky beach while two people adjust lighting equipment around her. Two studio lights on tripods; one emits orange light, the other blue. Both are angled towards an invisible subject, creating a split lighting effect on the background.

Both the AD600Pro II and the X3 remote can be synchronized wirelessly and nearly instantly with a single tap to an icon on each device. The Godox AD600Pro II is also compatible with older Godox triggers such as the Xproll and the X2T.

The new strobe from Godox is also very easy to use with third-party devices due to Godox’s own 2.4G wireless system.

This new strobe can thus “seamlessly” integrate with TTL auto flash systems from multiple camera brands that include major names like Canon, Nikon, Sony Olympus, Panasonic, Fujifilm and even Pentax or Leica.

For all the features and specs it comes equipped with, the AD600Pro II is nonetheless easy to carry and set up. It weighs no more than 7.7 lb or 3.5 kg without additional accessories being mounted to it.

Godox has already released the AD600Pro II onto the market and it’s available now for $899.
